New Mentee Application Deadline: Community Government Mentorship Program

The deadline for submitting a Mentee application for the Community Government Mentorship Program (CGMP)  has been extended to March 18, 2011. The Program is application based and open to LGAs who want to be a Mentee; exceptions being those involved in Advancing Local Government Administrators Program (ALGAP) Category 1 and 2.  The CGMP will create opportunities for new or inexperienced Local Government Administrators (LGAs) to expand their knowledge, leadership skills and management practices under the mentorship of an experienced LGAs.  To be eligible as a Mentee candidates should:

  • be a new or inexperienced LGA who requests mentoring assistance from an experienced and qualified LGA;
  • receive a recommendation and written authorization from their employer  to participate in the program; and 
  • be willing to take on the role of Mentee for one year  as outlined in attached Program Guidelines.-

 As a LGA Mentee you would work with an experienced LGA to identify the skills, knowledge, and/or goals that you want to achieve through the mentorship arrangement and discuss new work related topics that are important to you and may receive support or guidance from an experienced LGA.
